Rubellite is a lovely hot pink to bright red variety of Tourmaline. This particular piece is rosy pink Tourmaline in Quartz matrix.
Rubellite forms in igneous rocks and are found in pegmatites. Groundwater carries minerals, such as manganese; necessary to form Tourmaline. The minerals crystallize as the water evaporates, leaving behind Rubellite.
