Cobalto Calcite is a beautiful crystal in a pale to hot pink colour, translucent to opaque and pearly lustre; sometimes with little green inclusions.

Calcite forms from the process of calcium bicarbonate saturation in hydrothermal veins and sedimentary rock. Eroded rocks deposit calcium ions and react with carbonate ions to create Calcite. The presence of the mineral Cobalt is responsible for the pink colour.

The presence of copper in the Calcite can be responsible for the little green inclusions you find; which are Malachite.
